Icekats Jump Into First Place
With a fantastic fore-checking and an even better back-checking effort, the Midget B Icekats take over first place in their division by defeating the Cold Creek Comets by a score of 2-1.

Both teams came into this game with identical records of 2-0-0, having each defeated Lindsay and Ennismore, and sitting tied for the division lead.

Zoe Manion, in spite of being under the weather, put in a fantastic performance, allowing a single goal, making the two goals that Peterborough scored stand up for the victory.

After being frustrated the night before from getting multiple shots on goal, but not scoring, Carolne Pind fired a shot on net from a nearly impossible angle which snuck by the Cold Creek goalie for the first goal of the game.

Cold Creek tied the game on a power play goal mid-way through the second period on a shot from the slot that Zoe Manion was completely screened on. However, late in the period Jenna DeNoble carried the puck into the zone and passed it to Mya Burnie behind the net. Mya fed a pass right onto the tape of Jo Lynn Stonefish's stick and she buried it in the Cold Creek net with only 6 seconds remaining in the period.

The Icekats continued to frustrate the Comets in the third period with outstanding forechecking. When Cold Creek could muster up an attack, the entire Icekat team was back to defend the lead. One particular play with only minutes left in the game, saw Cold Creek manage a two on one break. Although Grace Landon was a few strides behind when the play broke out, she managed to get all the way back and take the puck away from the Cold Creek puck carrier.

Today the Icekats travel to Brighton for the second half of this home and home series. You can bet Cold Creek will be coming hard at us, so this will be a great test for the team.
