The Kats suffered their first loss in LLFHL regular season play
January 6 losing 3-0 to their rivals in West Northumberland. The Wild jumped
out to a quick 2-0 lead during a shaky first period; however, the Kats
regrouped and generated quality scoring chances throughout the second and third
period that were denied by the excellent play of the Wild goaltender.
The team bounced back on the weekend in a sweep of the Aurora Panthers to regain first place in the East Division. Hannah McKenzie earned the shutout in a 4-0 victory in Aurora on January 9. Taylor Yanagdiara paced the attack with 2 goals. Natalie Foster and Emma Belk each scored a goal while Mikayla Williams and Grace Murphy chipped in with 2 assists each. Tieler Laurie also added an assist.
On January 10, the team hosted Aurora and played an excellent game with tremendous puck movement in all areas of the rink. Lauren Jeffrey, Ashtyn Hickey and Yanagdiara scored the goals. Belk added 2 assists with single assists going to Delaney Hancock and Natalie Foster. Morgan Flannigan earned the shutout between the pipes.
Next action for the girls is Monday January 18 when they travel to Whitby to face the Wolves.
