Atom BB Ice Kats Lead LLFHL
The Peterborough Atom BB Ice Kats have quietly put together a stellar record during both tournament & Lower Lakes Female Hockey League (LLFHL) play during the 2015-16 hockey season.

The girls began the season by going undefeated to win the Oshawa Lady Generals Fall Classic in September with a 3-1 victory over their divisional rivals from West Northumberland. The team followed this up with a Silver Medal in the Clarington Flames Apple Fest tournament in October following a tough 2-1 loss to the Waterloo Ravens in the Championship game.

As of December 8th, the team sits in first place in the highly competitive LLFHL East Division (and the entire LLFHL) with an undefeated record of 10-0-5. The strong play of goaltenders Morgan Flannigan & Hannah MacKenzie (with 9 shutouts in 15 league games) has anchored a strong defense corps lead by Tieler Laurie, Amelia Williams, Maggie McGillen and Mikayla Williams. This tough defensive unit has limited their opponents to only 7 goals in league play (a miniscule 0.47 Goals Against Average). The forward group consisting of Grace Murphy, Delaney Hancock, Ashtyn Hickey, Amber Murray, Emma Belk, Natalie Foster & Taylor Yanagdiara have all been key contributors to a balanced attack with each contributing timely goals during close, hard fought games this season.

The girls have worked very hard since last spring to raise the caliber of their game in 2015-16. They participated in a 10,000 Shot Challenge and a 5,000 Touches training program to develop their puck skills during the summer months. Beginning in the fall, the team held weekly dryland training sessions and Power Skating to continue developing their skating and puck skills. The coaching staff (consisting of Darryll Hancock, Michael Williams, Steve Foster, Mike Williams, Keith Calderwood and Shawn Carmichael) give the players a lot of credit for their positive approach to training, hard work and commitment to become an excellent team that consistently competes at the highest level of their category. Go Kats Go!
