Atom BB Ice Kats split series with Etobicoke Dolphins
The Atom BB Ice Kats opened the New Year with a home and home exhibition series against the powerhouse Etobicoke Dolphins. Both teams entered the weekend atop the standings within their respective Divisions in the LLFHL and showed their quality in two very competitive and well played games.

The Ice Kats travelled to Etobicoke on January 2 and suffered a hard fought 1-0 loss. The Kats gave up a late goal and then battled hard right to the buzzer creating several quality scoring chances with the extra attacker and goaltender pulled but were unable to find the mark. The girls played excellent team defense as they repeatedly turned away an excellent skating team with active sticks and pressure on the puck.

Peterborough played host January 3 and returned the favour by downing Etobicoke 1-0. Morgan Flannigan was solid throughout the game earning the shutout in net. Flannigan turned away a number of scoring chances under tremendous pressure from the Dolphins in the final minutes. Ashtyn Hickey scored the lone goal with assists to Delaney Hancock and Natalie Foster. Amber Murray played her best game of the year on defense.

The team is preparing to finish the regular season strong with only 5 game remaining in their schedule before playoffs begin in February.
