The
Peterborough Midget AA Ice Kats, sponsored by
Kings Auto Wreckers and the
Ruttle Group, have earned the right to compete in the OWHA provincial championships after sweeping the West Northumberland Wild in a best-of-five series.
Peterborough travelled to the Cobourg Community Centre Wednesday
night up 1-0 in the series. Maddy O'Neill-Hawthorne banged in a rebound
from a Taylor McArthur point shot in the first period, and Ice Kats
goalie Maddy Roche made several key saves down the stretch to earn a 1-0
win.
The Ice Kats wrapped up the series with a 3-1 win Saturday night at the Evinrude Centre.
The Peterborough line of Alicia Wake, Lauren Bell and Talia Flint
provided all of the offence. Wake had two goals and one assist, Bell a
goal and two assists and Flint three assists. Sophy Wood earned the win
in the Ice Kats net.
The Ice Kats will spend the next few weeks preparing to compete in the OWHA tournament in Mississauga from April 4 to 7.
