Midget AA Ice Kats score twice in final minutes for win
The Peterborough Midget AA Ice Kats, sponsored by the Ruttle Group and Kings Auto Wreckers, rallied late to win Game 1 of their provincial playdown series 3-2 against West Northumberland Wild on Thursday night at the Evinrude Centre.
With West Northumberland holding a 2-1 lead heading into the final minutes of the game, Madeline O'Neill-Hawthorne scored with two minutes left to tie the game. Lauren Bell scored her second goal of the night with 38 seconds left to seal the win for Peterborough.
Alicia Wake and Bell had assists. Sophy Wood played a solid game in net for Peterborough.
Game 2 of the best-of-five series takes place in Cobourg on Wednesday.
