Sports are about those unforgettable moments where sheer will and determination overcome the odds.  These are the moments we remember...

And the Atom A Ice Kats demonstrated one of these moments over the weekend during the 36th Annual Peterborough Ice Kats Tournament.  Through heart, determination, perseverance, grit, teamwork and DESIRE the girls came away victorious with the GOLD medal.

It was an exciting weekend of hockey where four very evenly match teams took to the rink in action packed, end to end hockey.  In game action on Friday, the Ice Kats pulled off a 1-0 win over the Leaside Wildcats in a hard fought, defensive battle.  Saturday they took on the Cornwall Typhoons where the girls grinded their way to 1-0 win.  Again, on Saturday, the girls took on the Bluewater Hawks.  Unfortunately they came up short with 4-0 loss.  Despite the loss, the Ice Kats moved on to the CHAMPIONSHIP game on Sunday where they would again face the Bluewater Hawks.

With the odds stacked against them from the loss the night before, the girls weren't letting anything get them down!  They came out on fire...with vengeance, determination and the will to win!  The game was edge of your seat exciting hockey!  The game was tied 0-0 after 3 periods of play, sending the game into sudden death overtime.  With 15 seconds left in overtime and a shoot out looming, the Ice Kats put the puck in the net for an unforgettable 1-0 WIN!

A big shout out goes to the goalies, who played amazing all weekend, recording three shut outs!  Way to go girls!  The coaching staff is very proud of each and every one of you!  The weekend was true demonstration of hard work and never giving up!

The Atom A Ice Kats had a great weekend of hockey, coming away with two wins!

The girls have been working very hard at practices and games.

This weekend was a great example of how hard work and dedication can shine through!

The girls beat the Aurora Panthers on Saturday with a 5-2 win.  On Sunday, they came away with a 4-1 win over Kingston, who is 2nd in the East Division!  Way to go girls!  It's great to see the team moving the puck well, getting to the net, fore-checking and back-checking hard and putting the puck past the goalie!

Way to work as a team!
