Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Peterborough Girls Hockey Association!

Minor hockey thrives because of the commitment, passion, and support of dedicated volunteers. Whether you are a parent, former player, or community member, your time and skills can make a lasting impact.  Minor hockey is more than just a game, it’s a community. We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and skill levels. Some roles require certification (such as coaching or trainer's courses), but others just require a willingness to pitch in. Common volunteer roles include:

The PGHA relies on volunteers in both our House League and Rep programs, opportunities include:

  • Coach & Assistant Coach's

  • Team Trainers

  • Team Managers

  • Dressing room supervisors (Den Moms)

  • Support for Tournaments, Fundraisers and Special Events

  • Board Members and Committee Members

Without volunteers, we simply couldn't operate our programs or deliver the positive experience for our athletes. Training, mentorship, guidance, and ongoing support is available for all roles.

Volunteering is a fun and rewarding opportunity to help create life-long memories and develop skills for countless young athletes. Benefits of volunteering include:

  • Community: Become part of a supportive and energetic group of volunteers and families

  • Fulfillment: Help empower young girls and build confidence through sport

  • Leadership: Develop or share leadership and organizational skills

  • Lifelong Memories: Be part of a player’s development on the ice and in life

  • Volunteer Hours: Great for high school students, post-secondary requirements, or résumé experience

Please Note: As per the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF), all volunteers are required to submit a current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and declaration to the OHF Screening Portal prior to being approved as a volunteer.

As per OWHA policy, all team staff must meet the following requirements:
