A hopeful return to play
Submitted By Stacey Moore on Monday, February 8, 2021
Hello to the Ice Kat Families,

As you are aware, there was a provincial announcement today that extends our lockdown until February 16th, at which point we are still very hopeful for a return to the colour coding we were in prior to December 26th, and a return to play for the PGHA within our bubble.

The Province of Ontario announced today that Regions will gradually transition back into Covid-19 response framework between February 10 and February 22, subject to review of the trends in public health indicators.

The current shutdown and stay-at-home orders remain in each region until returning to the framework, including  that Peterborough Public Health (PPH) region will remain in a shutdown AND stay at home order until February 16th.

Pending review by PPH of local COVID-19 indicators, it is expected that we will be placed into a revised COVID-19 response framework. NOTE: Which covid-19 response colour our region will be assigned is not known at this time.   As additional details become available we will be sure to share them with you.

Please begin to familiarize yourself with the revised framework posted on the Provinces’ website at  https://www.ontario.ca/page/covid-19-response-framework-keeping-ontario-safe-and-open

We are in contact with the City of Peterborough, with our arena contacts as well as the OWHA to get the latest updates on the possible return to play.

We are very hopeful to see the players back on the ice very soon and we will keep you in the loop as things unfold.

When we do return to play, we will keep the teams the same as they were prior to the break - jerseys will be re-allocated with the same jerseys they had before. We will also have a period of practices prior to game play resuming to get the girls back on their skates in a practice setting.

You will see the schedule update on the website soon - please be advised this is a tentative schedule and we will await getting the green light prior to moving forward with ice times.

Thanks for all of your patience and positivity through these challenging times.

We are as excited as all of you to see the girls back out on the ice, doing what they love!
