Peewee BB Team Wins Season Home Opener vs Clarington 4-0!
Submitted By Laura Merrick on Monday, October 08, 2018

The Fitzsimmons Towing & Repair Peterborough Ice Kats Peewee BB team started off their season with a home opener on October 8th vs Clarington Flames.

The puck dropped at 7:00 PM in Lakefield with the team coming out ready to play their home opener with lots of family and friends in attendance to watch the game!  The game started out a little slow (maybe it was the turkey dinners), but the girls soon found their legs and the net with lots of shots in the 2nd and 3rd period.

Starting off the scoring in the 1st period was:
1. Riley, assisted by Kylee

Despite lots of opportunities in the 2nd period, no goals were scored.

In the 3rd period, the girls drove hard to the net scoring three goals.  Goals went to:
2. Kylee, assisted by Annalise and Madelyn
3. Madelyn , unassisted
4. Brooke J, assisted by Clara and Megan

It was a great game both offensively and defensively.  In defensive play, all the girls worked very hard with Paige and Abby holding the line, Jordyn having a couple of good rushes, Annalise picking up a great assist, Megan battling hard and winning the puck and Madelyn earning a spot on the game sheet with a goal.  GREAT start to the regular season defence!

Offensive action had Danica with some great shots, Brynn fighting hard in front of the net, Elora working hard along boards and always being in the right position, Brooke C with a couple of great scoring chances, Kylee working hard and putting the puck in the net, Rylie putting the puck on the net and getting a rebound to score, Brooke J taking advantage of a great pass to bury a beautiful one, Georgia working hard along the boards to dig the puck out and Clara fore-checking hard and making great passes!!  Awesome job forwards!!

Samantha earned a well deserved shutout and Emma even made a save on the bench, catching a flying puck with her cat like reflexes!

Way to go girls, a successful start to the season.  Keep up the great work!
