COACH
CERTIFICATION
HOCKEY
CANADA
Hockey Canada has implemented new certification requirements for head coaches for the Peewee AA, Bantam AA and Midget AA.
All Head Coaches coaching Bantam, Midget, Intermediate AA teams that compete in Interprovincial or National Championships or the highest level as determined by the Branch, must be High Performance 1 Certified¹.
It is recommended that all Assistant coaches be at minimum Development 1 trained.
This would take effect starting in the 2015/16 season and 2016/17 for Junior 'A'.
Therefore
by the end ( not the start ) of the 2015 / 16 season which is the end of next year, if coaches do not have the above they are not eligible to coach at the above levels.
New HP1 Clinics are now posted on the OWHA website
http://www.owha.on.ca/nccp.asp.
HP1 clinics are also offered through the other hockey federations in Ontario.
If you are considering applying for one of the P/B/M AA head coach positions, you must have your HP1 or be willing to complete this training in the spring of 2015.
High Performance 1 Application Process
The HP1 application form will once again be done online. Coaches will have the ability to rank in order what seminar they would like to attend. As we would like to be able to accommodate all requests, this may be difficult to do based on the number of coaches who require this certification.
Applicants will be notified and will be sent more information including payment instructions.
The total registration fee for all HP1 clinics is $1000.00, plus tax and includes lunches/snacks, all seminar materials, course work, written assignment evaluation, mentoring and practical field evaluation (in the OHF Area). Transportation and accommodation are the responsibility of the participant.
