As a result of the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association's continued long-term relationship with the People’s Republic of China, there are various teams from China playing in Ontario, Canada and the United States this season.
The Peterborough Girls Hockey Association are excited to support this relationship, as the Peterborough Midget AA Ice Kats will be playing against the Qiqihar Randy Women’s Ice Hockey Club at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Tuesday, November 26th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Free admission to see great calibre International Women’s Ice Hockey.
This Women’s Club Team called Qiqihar (pronounced "Chee-chee-har") Randy Women Ice Hockey Club is located in Qiqihar, China and was founded in 2002.
They came second in the Chinese Ice Hockey National Women’s Championship in recent years, and are a feeder team to the National Women’s Team in China, which is preparing for competition in the 2020 Winter Olympics.
Last season the Midget AA Ice Kats had the opportunity to play this team from the People’s Republic of China, who were in Canada to improve their hockey skills and play against a variety of Midget and Junior teams from Ontario. The Ice Kats traveled to the Vaughan Sports Village in October last year and had a great experience playing International Hockey against a formidable team, battling to a 2-2 tie.
This a great opportunity for other PGHA teams and members of the community to come out and cheer on your local team.
This game will feature opening ceremonies, national anthems and 3 - 20 minute stop time periods with floods.
