Midget A's Show What A Team Can Do Together
The Midget A Ice Kats took the long way in the first round of playoffs Playing Whitby. 1st game 2-2, 2nd a 2-0 loss. With the 3rd game back in Whitby these girls had there work cut out for them. Being down in the series of 2 out of 3 going into Whitby's home rink would be a challenge for anyone. The Midget A's came into the rink saying they wanted more hockey this season. With this positive attitude and positive electricity in the dressing room these girls came to play some hockey.

The Midget's hit the ice fully charge and ready to play. Once that puck dropped the Midget A's never looked back. It was all offence. Whitby had no chance breaking out, even the neutral zone was taken away.

1st period ended 0-0 with the Ice Kats out shooting Whitby 15-5

2nd period ended 0-0 with the Ice Kats still pounding the net but couldn't buy a goal.  23-8

3rd period the Midgets finally got a break right after the puck dropped and went up 1-0. Not long after we broke that seal around the net we put another in. With Whitby down 2-0 and time running out the Ice Kats went to the penalty box which gave Whitby a chance to pull the goalie and having a 6 on 4. Our only advise was for the girls to stay focused and stay in formation with sticks and feet active. If you have to be aggressive to keep them to the outside. This is exactly what they did and the puck was moved down in the opposing teams end. We then took over with aggressive for check and netting another goal. 3-0 end of the 3rd  Shots 31-15

This was not the end of the game. Now both team were tied and have to play 10 min sudden death overtime.
This ended 0-0 tie. What game!

Now still being tied the teams take to a shootout, sudden death. Whitby shoots first. After 8 shooters we final banged one into the back of the net.

Great way to end a series with exciting hockey.

Midget A's   4  -  Whitby  0

Goals:- Maddy Winslow 2, Natalie McVicker 1, Emma Tiddey 1 & shootout winner

Asst:- Grace Dunn 2, Elyse Young 1, Megan Rivet 1,

Goaltending was just so amazing with Brooklyn Hatfield back stopping for a shutout. There was never a loose puck or rebound for Whitby to even have a chance.

With the shootout, I switched goalies and Bryer Courneyea stood tall making 8 great saves.

Well Done Ladies This Was A Truly A Team Effort By All!

Midget A's move on to the next round to play Durham West.

This Weekend the Midget's play in the Durham West Tournament
