Peterborough Ice Kats Win Third Straight Tournament
The Peterborough Cavanagh Disposal U15 AA Ice Kats won the Brampton Two Nations Cup, making them three-for-three in tournaments this season on the weekend.

The Ice Kats lost their first game Friday morning to the North York Storm which ended a 23 game winning streak before going on to win the next six games. They avenged their loss by beating the Storm 1-0 in the championship game. Sophie Harold scored the lone goal in the finals assisted by Molly Farace and Chloe Fife. Lacey Clement got the shutout and Sadie Davidson got a shutout in the semifinal game earlier in the day.

The Ice Kats are now 29-2-0 and have been ranked No. 1 in Canada for eight consecutive weeks. They have also won all three tournaments they have entered.

“I think this is one of the hardest working, most tenacious hockey teams in Canada right now and that was proved this weekend,” said Ice Kats assistant coach Shelbi Kilcollins.

“The girls hard work and determination was exemplified in the three games they played over six hours on Sunday. Everyone’s efforts from the crease to across the blue-line and up front contributed to this weekend’s championship.”

The Ice Kats next tournament will be in Kanata in 2022 and their next home game is Friday night against the Belleville Bearcats at the Healthy Planet Arena.
