The
Peterborough Midget AA Ice Kats picked up two wins after playing three regular season games over four days.
Peterborough doubled up on the Markham-Stouffville Stars 2-1 at the Evinrude Centre on Thursday night. Ava Flint scored both Ice Kat goals with assists by Alana Jentas, Hannah Kawalec, Ryan Rupnow and Talia Flint. Maddy Roche got the win in net for Peterborough.
On Saturday, Peterborough were shut out by the Durham West Lightning 1-0 at the Pickering Recreation Centre on Saturday after Durham West scored a power-play goal late in the third period.
On Sunday, the Midget AA Ice Kats bounced back with a strong effort, defeating the West Northumberland Wild 5-0 at the Cobourg Community Centre. Taylor Richmond scored twice, with Maddy O'Neill-Hawthorne, Amanda Willis and Taylor McArthur also scoring. Grace Dunn and Taylor McArthur had two assists each, while Ava Flint, Talia Flint, Ava Smith and Ryan Rupnow also registered assists. Bella Smolen earned the shutout.
"The motto for this team is dedicate-drive-dominate," head coach Dave Roche stated. "We are playing in a very competitive division this year and, although playing short-staffed due to injuries, this very coachable group of young women are competing hard and getting positive results."
The Midget AA Ice Kats travel to Markham on Wednesday night to face the Markham-Stouffville Stars.
