Bantam B Win Gold Medal at Belleville Bearcats Tournament
What an amazing weekend of hockey for the Peterborough Dairy Producers Bantam B Ice Kats! After 2 days of round robin play, the team faced strong competition they were not backing down from to earn their place in the finals.
During round robin play, the girls beat the Napanee Crunch 4-3 on Friday afternoon and lost 2-1 after a hard fought battle during a late night game against the Russelle Coyotes. On Saturday, the team regrouped and had a solid win over the Gloucester Stars C team with a score of 7-1. This secured our spot in the quarter finals on Sunday morning. The Twin Center Hericanes put forth their best effort, but it was no match for the Ice Kats. We managed to win 1-0 and move on to the semi-finals. Facing the Gloucester Stars B team was anticipated to be our toughest game. The Ice Kats dug deep and managed to win with a score of 1-0. On to the finals they went! In the gold medal game, the girls faced the Goulbourn Rockets. Both teams were determined to win the gold medal. The Ice Kats came out on top with a score of 4-1. Fantastic goal keeping by both Sydnee and Courtney all weekend! Awesome defensive and offensive play by all the girls on the team. Your hard work and dedication really paid off this weekend.
