Back to Back Wins for the Canadian Hockey Enterprise Peewee AA
The Canadian Hockey Enterprise Peewee AA Ice Kats played a
home and home series against the Kingston Ice Wolves this past weekend.
Saturdays game saw the Ice Kats travel the 401 for an afternoon matchup where they came out flying on all cylinders to earn the early 3-0 lead going into the third period. Goals scored by Emma Belk, Peyton Armstrong and Taylor Yanagidaira. The all-important assists went to Tieler Laurie, Delaney Hancock (2), Ashtyn Hickey, Poppy Thomson and Natalie Foster. Kingston came out wanting to even the score in the third, but the Ice Kats held strong to earn the 3-2 victory. Sunday was another great battle between these two rivals with more physical play on the boards. The Ice Wolves hit the score board first, but their lead was short lived when Foster shot from the corner and found the back of the net, assist going to Amber Murray. Period two saw lots of end to end action with both goalies making key saves. With the break between periods to regroup the Ice Kats came back out wanting the win and proved just that with an amazing pass by Loghan Fitzgerald, while lying on the ice, to Tieler Laurie who one timed it and scored the winning goal for a 2-1 victory. Another great weekend performance by the Ice Kats netminder duo of Morgan Flannigan and Hannah McKenzie.
