Peewee AA Icekats earn 2 points over the weekend.
The Ice Kats next home game is Wednesday, November 8, 7:15pm as they face off against the Clarington Flames at Kinsmen Arena. They will then hit the road on Sunday, November 12 to meet the Aurora Panthers. Come cheer on the Peewee AA Ice Kats.

The Canadian Hockey Enterprise Peterborough Ice Kats peewee AA girls played host to the Markham-Stouffville Stars Friday night in the first meeting between these two teams of the season. Both teams were playing conservatively in the first period trying to figure each other out. With a scoreless first period the game picked up speed in the second with the Stars hitting the scoreboard first. Down by a goal going into the third period Poppy Thompson found the back of the net for the Ice Kats to tie the game up, assist going to Amelia Williams.  The Stars answered right back with a goal of their own to give them the edge.  Natalie Foster from the Kats headed down the right side and with a quick shot on net potted the second goal, unassisted, and once again the game was even. In keeping with the style of the game the Stars once again took the lead. As time was ticking down Thompson from her stomach got her stick on the puck and with a “never give up attitude” tied the game at three a piece, assist going to Maggie McGillen. Neither team could break the deadlock and the game ended with a point for both the Ice Kats and Stars.

Sunday saw the Ice Kats faceoff against the Scarborough Sharks on home ice in front of their fans. Hitting the scoreboard first Taylor Yanagidaira sniped one by the Sharks goalie to give the Kats the early lead, assist going to Amelia Williams.  The second period saw both teams exchange goals with the Ice Kats goal going to Ashtyn Hickey, assisted by Thompson and Grace Murphy.  With a one goal lead heading into the third period the game picked up a level with plenty of exciting end to end action and the Sharks tied the game up again. Both teams fought hard to gain the extra point but came up short finishing the game with a 2-2 tie.

The goal tending duo of Morgan Flannigan and Hannah McKenzie were solid between the pipes coming up with clutch saves to help their team earn a point in each game.
