Novice B Ice Kats Win GOLD at the 40th Annual Belleville Bearcats New Year's Classic Tournament
The Peterborough Ice Kats Novice B team had an outstanding weekend of tournament play at the Belleville Bearcats 40th Annual New Year's Classic.
The girls went undefeated to win the gold medal!They played their first game on Friday night where the girls beat Napanee 3-1. On Saturday, during their second game, they beat Kingston 3-0. Later that afternoon, the girls faced the hometown Belleville Bearcats and disposed of them with a 4-0 win. The team advanced to the championship game on Sunday, where they came out firing on all cylinders blowing away the Napanee Crunch with an 8-1 win.
We are all very proud of the girls - they played their hearts out all weekend by fore-checking hard, crashing the net, tenaciously back-checking and setting up awesome plays through great passing to their teammates. A huge shout out goes to our goalie, who only let in 2 goals the entire tournament.
The coaching staff would like to thank the team for demonstrating what it means to play as a team. The girls took the time to high five a teammate for a good play, made every effort to set-up players that don’t normally score goals and demonstrated good sportsmanship toward the other teams!
Congratulations Girls! We are proud of you Sadie, Brooke, Rhaea, Sophie, Avery, Claire, Georgia, Carissa, Clara, Brynn, Molly, Lily, Chloe, Abby, Erica and Paige! You are truly an amazing group of girls!
