Peterborough Napa Autoparts Midget A Icekats hosted the West Northumberland Wild
The Peterborough Napa Autoparts Midget A Icekats hosted the West Northumberland Wild at the Kinsmen arena on Sunday and came away with an important 2-1 win, as they strive to move up in the standings before the playoffs start at the end of the month. Peterborough opened the scoring in the first period with a tic-tac-toe power play goal scored by Brooke Sanders, assisted by Danielle Richardson and Jillian Krotz. The Wild tied the game early in the third on a disputed goal in which the net appeared to be off. The Icekats continued to apply pressure and were rewarded with the winning goal scored by Michaela Crowe, with assists by Lauren O’Neill-Hawthorne and Katie Garland with 2:58 remaining. Kelsey Preston provided solid goaltending for the Icekats, including two highlight reel glove saves on shots from in close. With the win, the 7th place Icekats sit 1 point back of Scarborough and Durham West in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League East Division.
