A great weekend performance by the Midget A Ice Kats resulted in the first tournament championship of the season.

The Peterborough Midget ‘A’ Icekats are enjoying some early success in preparing for the 2014-2015 Lower Lakes
Female Hockey League season. The girls played 6 games while participating in the 4th Annual Markham-Stouffville Starsfest
Tournament this past weekend, and were crowned Tournament Champions after defeating host Markham-Stouffville 2-1 in the final.
Peterborough beat Markham-Stouffville 3-0, lost 4-3 to North Durham and bounced back with a 1-0 win over Leaside in round-robin play.
In the qualifier, Peterborough triumphed over St. Catherines 3-1 and then beat Leaside 2-0 in the semi-final in order to move onto the final.
Coach Bob Buckton and his staff were thrilled with the “lunch bucket” work ethic of the entire team, with all players contributing to the
team’s tournament success. Notable mentions acknowledge hat tricks by Katie Garland and Dani Richardson, as well as solid goaltending
by Tori Proulx.
